Property Owners Underwriter
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an established insurer as a Property Owners Underwriter. They are looking for a candidate who enjoys working within a team environment, who is hard-working and will be committed to achieving the financial business plan. The perfect candidate will be enthusiastic and motivated, keen to excel and develop their career.
This is a hybrid role - A mix of working from the Manchester office, along with the flexibility of working from home too.
The role:
- Profitably underwrite Property Owners on a case-by-case basis, within appetite and underwriting criteria.
- you will also look after some Commercial Combined accounts too, to provide a bit of variety in the role.
- Underwrite within company strategy and authority limits and refer all cases outside of strategy or individual limits.
- Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with colleagues and brokers as well as identifying new opportunities within our network.
- Attend training, review meetings and social events when required.
- Maintain, and endeavour to exceed, agreed service levels to both internal and external customers.
- Working closely with senior underwriters and supporting those more junior.
- Develop and maintain an up to date knowledge of the commercial underwriting and broking market.
Your skills and experience:
- Strong trading skills with experience in developing broker accounts to achieve profitable growth.
- Underwriting knowledge, specifically with previous experience in Property Owners and/or Commercial Combined.
- Motivated, driven and adapts to change, positively displaying a can do attitude.
- Willingly provides help and support to others and has the ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Passionate about own development within the insurance industry.
- To assess and analyse data accurately and effectively.
- The ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
- Good problem solving skills.
- Work independently but also as part of a team to deliver common goals.
- The ability to demonstrate meeting & exceeding personal and team objectives.
- An awareness of the market and legal/industry developments.
