Description

With significant underwriting and commercial authority, you'll be empowered to trade with your brokers in a Development Underwriter role free from corporate restrictions. You'll join an agile MGA keen to continue its growth in the construction and contractor market. You'll have a strong set of products and A-rated capacity from a significant panel of insurers, and a brand that is well known for CAR/construction/contractor expertise.

The business is seeking to capaitalise on strong performance in the London market and an expanding regional footprint by recruiting a physical presence in key strategic areas, including:


  • Midlands/Birmingham
  • South West/Bristol
  • North West/Manchester
  • Yorkshire/Leeds

As a Regional Development Underwriter, you will be responsible for building and nurturing relationships with brokers in your designated region. You will be empowered to trade directly with brokers, driving profitable growth in the Construction insurance sector. The role provides a high level of autonomy, allowing you to leverage your underwriting expertise and broker connections to make informed, commercially focused decisions.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and maintain relationships with brokers to secure new business and grow existing accounts.
  • Underwrite a range of Construction-related risks with a focus on Contractors All Risk, Contractors Plant, and associated liabilities.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to ensure regional targets and business objectives are met.
  • Identify opportunities for growth within your region, working proactively with brokers to understand their needs and offer tailored solutions.

Requirements:


  • Proven experience in underwriting Construction risks, Contractors All Risk, or related sectors.
  • Strong broker relationships and market knowledge within your region.
  • Ability to work autonomously, with a proactive and commercial approach.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Benefits:


  • Competitive salary of £45,000 - £70,000, based on experience and regional broker connections.
  • Performance-related bonus of 25% - 40% of base salary.
